Understand better on clicks, visitors, and pageviews

November 25, 2011 By: admin Category: Info Tech

(continue from Visits & Visitors)

Pageviews vs. Unique Pageviews

A pageview is each time a visitor views a page on your website, regardless of how many hits are generated. Pages are comprised of files. Every image in a page is a separate file. When a visitor looks at a page (a pageview), they may see numerous images, graphics, pictures etc. and generate multiple hits.

A Pageview is defined as a view of a page on your site that is being tracked by the Analytics tracking code. If a visitor hits reload after reaching the page, this will be counted as an additional pageview. If a user navigates to a different page and then returns to the original page, a second pageview will be recorded as well.

The below image clearly show you the different between visits & pageview.

A unique Pageview aggregates pageviews that are generated by the same user during the same session. So now you know why normally advertisers would look into visits rather than Pageview.

Understand better on clicks, visitors, and pageviews

August 24, 2011 By: admin Category: Info Tech

(continue from Click & Visits)

Visits & Visitors

A visit happens when someone or something (robot) visits your site. It may consists of one or more page views/ hits. One visitor can make multiple visits to your site.

Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all visitors to your site. If a user is inactive on your site for 30 minutes or more, any future activity will be attributed to a new session. Users that leave your site and return within 30 minutes will be counted as part of the original session.

A session is defined as a series of page requests from the same uniquely identified client with a time of no more than 30 minutes. In other words, a session ends when someone goes to another site, or 30 minutes elapse between pageviews, whichever comes first. A visit ends only after a 30 minute time delay. If someone leaves a site, then returns within 30 minutes, this will count as one visit but two sessions. In practice, most systems ignore sessions and many analysts use both terms for visits. Because time between pageviews is critical to the definition of visits and sessions.

Understand better on clicks, visitors, and pageviews

July 05, 2011 By: admin Category: Info Tech

The visitor/ analytic report can be misinterpret due to the many similar terms used. Here you’ll find a more detailed explanation of each terms that lead to your questions.

Clicks & Visits

There is different between clicks and visits. Clicks indicates how many times your advertisements were clicked by visitors, while visits indicates the number of unique sessions initiated by your visitors.

A visitor may click your ad several times. When visitor clicks on the same advertisement multiple times during the same session, Google AdWords will record as multiple clicks while Google Analytics recognizes the separate pageviews as one visit. This is a common behavior among visitors who try to do comparison on prices etc.

A visitor may click on your advertisement, but didn’t really look into the page content. In this case, the Analytics tracking code is unable to execute and send tracking data to the Google servers. However, Google AdWords will still register it as one Click.

Technically, a visitor is the browser of a person who accepts a cookie.

Google analytical bounce rate

April 29, 2009 By: admin Category: Info Tech

What does Bounce Rate mean?

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality – a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors.

The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.

To view the bounce rates for your website, go to the Bounce Rate report under Visitors > Visitor Trending > Bounce Rate.
