ePaper CMS – Design

June 18, 2011 By: admin Category: Application

Following to our previous post about ePaper website solution/ platform. ePaper CMS is designed to support single template/ design for its entire system.

However, user need not to use the specific template for certain page(s) where they can turn the template off for those page(s). This will allow ePaper users to put in any design that is not considered as template. Its HTML design script while the system’s template is off for that page(s).

For example Dr Consult. The first page is meant to “Template-Off” so HTML codes written with CSS to design the page with grey background. Once visitor click enter the site, it will directed to other pages which designed with template all over them. This is the game for designer to play with to make the system to have different looks for different pages but requires HTML and CSS skills.

Best of all, ePaper is a hosted-service. The operator install it on their linux hosting server and customers just need to take care/ experience the CMS. So they do not need to worry about installation or server related issue.

However, if you are proposing the buyout edition or private hosting edition to your client, the application best work on Linux with PHP & MySQL. It will work on Windows based PHP hosting, but some graphic functions will not work such as the Favicon upload feature. In this case too, the operator will install the application on behalf of the customer to their own server or hosting.

How to build multi-language website

May 22, 2011 By: admin Category: Idea Box

Before we proceed with how to build a multi-language website (MLW), let’s understand more what is a multi-language website and why you need it.

multi-language-websites

By definition, a multilingual website is a website that provides content in more than one language, for example, English, French and German. In some cases only a few sections of the website need to be available in more than a language. For an example of some MLW review the following:

- www.europa.eu (visit)

- www.epaper.com.my (visit)

There are many reasons to develop a multilingual website (MLW), especially for corporate business.

- Desire to get into new markets. This makes sense for companies that are not internationally established yet but plan to break into new markets.

- The need to provide products and services information to international clients. In this case the company is already a player in the international market and hence needs to keep a communication channel with customers from different nationalities.

- The need to provide informative content in many different languages. Ie.: media companies

- Many countries have more than one official language, therefore providing content and information in the different languages is a need.

Besides that, we can cite governmental institutions, public services, NGOs, tourism related companies, language schools, and many other business activities that can take advantage of a MLW. In some cases there are even legal obligations.

However, this is just a corporate view. With the popularization of internet, small companies and even bloggers can take advantage of a multilingual website. Providing content in different languages may multiply significantly the site or blog traffic and potentially increase their results.

For Asian countries users, we recommend you to ePaper as their interface are more suit to your locality.

December 18, 2009 By: admin Category: Business Talk, Idea Box

While most of you who own a website understand about the RVSite Builder system, here we will share with you why not to choose RVSite Builder compare to ePaper.

Below are some of the significant different on how ePaper works better than RVSite Builder (RV).

1) Installation
RV: Bulk Installation – installed in server only once and everybody sharing the same application files.
ePaper: Individual Installation – installed on individual domain (more privacy and security)

2) Map
RV: No map allowed
ePaper: Powered with Google Map

3) Advance Scripting
RV: Support direct Javascript and PHP – assume most users are expert
ePaper: Support indirect Javascript – assume most users are non-expert

4) Favicon
RV: Indirect, only expert can change in htaccess
ePaper: Easy to upload and change

5) Template
RV: Pre-set on server and often updated. User has no control to modify or create their own template
ePaper: Each template are individual files that can be created and downloaded by users themselves

6) Photo Gallery
RV: You have to create your own page and upload your pictures
ePaper: Photo gallery is module by itself which will automatically scale your photos and organized in Albums
